A delegation of Italian and foreign officers attending the 20th Course ISSMI
A delegation of Italian and foreign officers attending the 20 th Course ISSMI (Corso Superiore di Stato Maggiore Interforze) visited the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) on 30 November 2017.
The group of representatives, chaired by Carabinieri General Claudio COGLIANO, was welcomed by MNCG Commander Colonel Francesco GRECO who briefed the visitors on the triple role of the Italian Army Unit specialized in Civil-Military Cooperation which, in addition to the operational capacities, serves as a Training Centre for CIMIC operators and a valid International forum of reference.
Then the HQ Staff, recently deployed in the Exercise “Trident Javelin 2017”, depicted in slides the operational planning process related to Civil-Military cooperation and the training academic package offered so far to 1400 students, both militaries and civilians, coming from NATO, Partnership for Peace and other countries that have bilateral agreement with Italy.
Finally, the delegation had the opportunity to see the framework of a CIMIC Centre, the structure due to be set up in Crises Areas in order to allow CIMIC operators to liaise with the civil environment.
This important CIMIC tool represents a valid reference place in the theaters of operation where the local population and the humanitarian civil organizations can meet the military component.
The Multinational CIMIC Group is currently deployed in Kosovo, Lebanon, Somalia, and Djibouti, in the Mediterranean Operation “Sophia” and in the national operation “Strade Sicure”. Moreover, the MNCG is part of the NATO Response Force framework.
