Motta di Livenza, October 20th, 2021.
On 20th October 2021, the Commander of the Italian “Squadra Aerea”, Air Squad General Gianni Candotti, visited the Mario Fiore Barracks in Motta di Livenza, headquarters of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MCNG). The aim of the visit was to deepen the knowledge about the unit, recognized as a CIMIC centre of expertise within NATO.
After the welcome greetings, the Commander of the MNCG, Col. Mattia Zuzzi, accompanied Gen. Candotti to the meeting room where, in the presence of the staff, presented a short briefing on the unit’s various activities, focusing on NATO commitments and on international missions.
At the end of the briefing, Gen. Candotti was able to visit the infrastructure and meet the personnel specialized in civil-military cooperation.
“The combined peculiarity of this unit gives depth and broad horizons to the CIMIC operational function, which is increasingly important and fundamental in the international scenarios in which the armed forces are called upon to intervene”, declared General Candotti at the end of the presentation.
In fact, the Multinational CIMIC Group counts personnel from all the Armed Forces who, during their stay at Motta di Livenza, specialize in civil-military cooperation becoming “CIMIC operator” and participating in missions under UN, NATO and EU aegis.
The visit ended with the ritual signing on the roll of honor by Gen. Candotti who, before leaving, wanted to congratulate and thank the Multinational CIMIC Group men and women for the daily work carried out not only in the national context but also in the international one.
The “Squadra Aerea” Commander is responsible for the operational readiness levels of the units of the Italian Air Force in order to ensure the safety of the national airspace, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
