NEW FEC COURSE IS OVER
The Female Engagement Course (FEC) has been renewed with new modules and contents
Motta di Livenza, 08th April, 2021.
The Female Engagement Course (FEC), organized and conducted by the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) Instructors, was held from 4th to 8th April 2022, in support of 40 students, coming from the civil environment and from different Armed Forces.
The course, carried out entirely in English language and structured on lessons identified and lesson learned gained by Female Engagement Teams and CIMIC Operators during missions abroad, took place in compliance with all the requirements related to the pandemic.
The aim of the Female Engagement Course is to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills to work in a team, in order to be able to interact with local women in a given crisis area.
Through communication and negotiation lessons, as well as cross cultural competences classes, participants have developed the necessary skills to engage the local population, and to effectively interact with local women, in order to create the conditions for creating a cooperative and collaborative environment, necessary to the achievement of mission objectives.
The teaching staff also includes specialized and qualified Subject Matter Experts, such as Professor Ranà Khawand – who is an expert in Gender and Human Rights, currently member of the United Nations staff at UN-Habitat in Lebanon, and she gave a lecture on the "Role of women in Arab culture and tradition".
The Gender Mainstreaming and the Public Affairs panels were also highly appreciated. The first one was focused on the United Nations Interim Force Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL), meanwhile the second one was aimed at training the Female Engagement Teams in order to facilitate interaction with journalists and media. The lecture on Cultural Awareness about North Africa was also very engaging and stimulating and was conducted by a CIMIC operator, from MNCG CIMIC Battalion.
In addition to the lessons, the course gave also the participants the opportunity to test, through different role-playing games, what they have learned during the theoretical lessons, replicating some possible scenarios in which a Female Engagement Team may operate.
