MNCG ENHANCES ANALYTICAL SUPPORT DURING SWIFT RESPONSE 25

As part of Exercise Swift Response 25, led by the U.S. Army V Corps and integrated within the broader DEFENDER 25 training framework, the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) activated its civil analysis reach back capability, reaffirming its enabling role within NATO’s operational architecture.

Conducted across Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, and Finland, the exercise featured large-scale multinational airborne operations, joint force integration, and complex operational scenarios in high-threat environments. In this context, the MNCG’s analytical component was tasked to deliver structured assessments of the civilian operating environment in the High North, providing critical input to the decision-making process and enhancing situational understanding for deployed forces.

Using the PESI model (Political, Economic, Socio-cultural and Infrastructure), the team identified key civilian factors within the area of operations, including strategic infrastructures such as Bardufoss Airport, the E6 highway, and the Port of Narvik. These assets are vital for the reception, staging, and onward movement of NATO follow-on forces, supporting the transition from the U.S.-led Joint Forcible Entry phase to the NATO-led Multinational Task Force – Norway (MNTF-N).

This effort was further strengthened through the Enhanced Internship 2025 initiative, developed in cooperation with Italian academic institutions. The activity demonstrated the MNCG’s ability to integrate open-source data, civilian expertise, and academic research into real-time operational analysis.

Once again, the Multinational CIMIC Group has proven to be a key actor in civil-military cooperation, providing tailored analytical tools that improve operational effectiveness and contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the mission environment.
